IMPORTANT
1.(Ref.No.F.1/17/2010-R-II) Fifteen Public Prosecutors in Central Bureau of Investigation. Out of the fifteen posts, two posts are reserved for Physically Handicapped persons viz. Orthopaedically Handicapped / Locomotor Disability / Cerebral Palsy with OL(One Leg affected) or OA(One Arm affected) belonging to any Community. The posts are also suitable for Physically Handicapped persons viz Orthopaedically Handicapped / Locomotor Disability / Cerebral Palsy with OL (One Leg affected) or OA(One Arm affected). Qualifications : Essential : A. Educational : Degree in Law of a recognized University or equivalent. B. Experience : Seven years practice at the Bar in conducting criminal cases. Duties : The Public Prosecutor will be responsible for conducting the prosecution of cases in the courts, attend to matters arising of or pertaining to court cases /references and to give legal advice in respect of the cases investigated by the Branch. He will also attend to other works as prescribed by the Department from time to time.
2.(Ref.No.F.1/18/2010-R-II) Seventeen Senior Public Prosecutors in Central Bureau of Investigation. Out of the seventeen posts, four posts are each reserved for SC & OBC candidates. Of the seventeen posts, one post is reserved for Physically Handicapped persons viz Orthopaedically Handicapped / Locomotor Disability / Cerebral Palsy with OL(One Leg affected) or OA(One Arm affected). The posts are also suitable for Physically Handicapped persons viz. Orthopaedically Handicapped / Locomotor Disability / Cerebral Palsy with OL(One Leg affected) or OA(One Arm affected) belonging to any Community. Qualifications : Essential : A. Educational : Bachelor’s degree in Law of a recognized University or equivalent. B. Experience: Eight years practice as an Advocate in conducting criminal cases. Duties: The Senior Public Prosecutor will be responsible for the entire work of “Prosecuting Section” and supervision of the work of Public Prosecutors and Assistant Public Prosecutors working in the Branch. Among other, the incumbent will conduct prosecution of cases in courts, attend to matters arising out of or pertaining to court cases/references and to give legal advice in respect of the cases investigated by the Branch. He will also attend to other work as prescribed by the Department from time to time.
1.Candidates are requested to apply in the format published along with this Special Advertisement No.51/2010 and NOT write to the Commission for application forms. They are also requested to go through carefully the details of posts and instructions published below before applying.
2.NATURE OF POST : The posts at Item No.1 & 2 above are permanent and belong to General Central Service.
3.PAY SCALE & CLASSIFICATION : (Figures in bracket at the end of the pay
scale indicate the approx total emoluments(per month) excluding TA and HRA at
the minimum of the scale).
a) Rs.15600-39100+5400(Grade pay) (T.E.Rs.28350) Group ‘A’ Gazetted for the
posts at S.No.1 above.
b) Rs.15600-39100+Rs.6600 (Grade pay)(T.E. Rs.29970) Group ‘A’ Gazetted for
the posts at S.No.2 above.
4.AGE LIMIT AS ON NORMAL CLOSING DATE :
a) Not exceeding 35 years for the posts at S.No.1
b) Not exceeding 40 years for the posts at S. No.2
N.B. The age limit shown against Item Nos.1 & 2 is normal age limit. The age is relaxable for SC candidates upto 5 years & upto 3 years for OBC candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them. AGE IS ALSO RELAXABLE FOR CENTRAL/UT GOVT SERVANTS UPTO FIVE YEARS AS PER THE INSTRUCTIONS ISSUED BY GOVT OF INDIA FROM TIME TO TIME. NOTE : Candidates with disabilities[ as indicated against Item(s)] can apply to the respective posts even if the post is not reserved for them. However, such candidates will be considered for selection to such post by general standard of merit. Persons suffering from not less than 40% of relevant disability shall alone be eligible for the benefit of reservation and other relaxations as permissible under the rules
5.HEADQUARTERS :Any of the CBI Branches in India for posts at Item Nos.1 & 2 above.
6.PROBATION:The persons selected against Item Nos. 1 & 2 above will be appointed on probation for one year.
I) Candidates applying for recruitment to the post of Public Prosecutor(Item No.1) or / and Senior Public Prosecutor(Item No.2) must use Single Application Form as per the format published alongside this Special Advertisement No.51/2010. Application submitted in any other format will not be accepted and is liable to be rejected. II) Candidates applying for the post of Public Prosecutor only should write ‘1’ in box against column 1(A). Candidates applying for the post of Senior Public Prosecutor only should write ‘2’ in box against column 1(A). Candidates eligible and willing to apply for both the posts i.e. Public Prosecutor & Senior Public Prosecutor should write ‘1&2’ in box against column 1(A). III) If input against column 1(A) is ‘1& 2’, such candidates are requested to indicate the preference for posts of Public Prosecutor and Senior Public Prosecutor as ‘F’ for First Choice or ‘S’ for Second Choice in boxs against these two posts in Column 1(B). In case the candidate does not give any preference for the posts, it will be assumed that the candidate has no specific preference for the posts. In such scenario, the decision of the Commission shall be final. IV) No request for revision, alteration or change of preference indicated by the candidate in his/her application would be considered at any subsequent stage under any circumstances. V) A combined Written Objective Type test with multiple choices of answer will be conducted for the recruitment to the posts of Public Prosecutor & Senior Public Prosecutor, which will be followed by Interview for selection of candidates to the posts of Public Prosecutor & Senior Public Prosecutor. The written test will be conducted on 26th September, 2010 in the Forenoon session. SCHEME FOR THE TEST: The test will be of two hours' duration and the medium of the question paper will be English only. The test will be an objective type with multiple choices of answer and will carry a maximum of 100 marks. There will be a penalty for wrong answers. Every wrong answer will carry a deduction of one-third of the marks assigned to that question. If no answer is marked for a question, there will be no penalty for that question. The level of the question paper will be that of LLB programme of recognized Indian Universities. SYLLABUS FOR THE TEST: The syllabus of the question paper shall cover the following major topics :- Criminal Law including IPC and Cr. PC, Constitution Law, Evidence Law, Prevention of Corruption Act, Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, Information Technology Act (IT Act) & Central Vigilance Commission Act (CVC Act). WEIGHTAGE : The candidates will be called for interview in order of their merit in the Recruitment Test. The number of candidates called will be a multiple of the vacancies in each category viz. SC/OBC/PH/UR (Unreserved). RESPECTIVE WEIGHTAGE OF THE RECRUITMENT TEST AND INTERVIEW SHALL BE DECIDED BY THE COMMISSION. ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS : A duly signed passport size photograph of the candidate is required to be affixed on the application form on the space provided for it. Candidates are required to send only one application in the prescribed format only irrespective of the fact whether they are applying for recruitment to the post of Public Prosecutor or Senior Public Prosecutor or both the posts i.e. Public Prosecutor & Senior Public Prosecutor. Applications without fee, photograph, declaration not signed by the candidate and not indicating the choice of Centres will be rejected. Similarly, applications received late and received from over aged candidates will also be rejected. Two self addressed envelopes ( 28 cms X 12 cms. ) are to be enclosed along with the application. No other documents are to be sent. Applicants are required to indicate TWO Centres of their choice in order of preference in boxes against column No. 13(A) and 13(B). Change of Centre will not be permitted to any candidate under any circumstances. The candidates are cautioned that if any candidate appears at the centre not allotted to him/her by the Commission, his/her answer sheets will not be evaluated. The recruitment test will be held at all or any of the following Centres on the 26th September, 2010 in the Forenoon Session:-

NOTE- Applicants are required to indicate TWO Centres of their choice in the application Form in order of preference. If any of the Centres mentioned above registers less than 10 candidates, that Centre will not be operated for Recruitment Test. If the Centres opted by a candidate register less than 10 candidates, he will be allotted some other centre.
